About

Experience that goes beyond the maintenance shop

Rivet Consulting is built on a career spanning aircraft maintenance, airline maintenance management, manufacturing, public transit asset management, and fleet operations.

Meet the founder

David Lahvic, Founder

I'm a results-driven aviation maintenance leader with 21 years in aviation maintenance, including 10 years as a Maintenance Manager and Director of Maintenance. That work is backed by extensive manufacturer and regulatory training, and hundreds of hours of ongoing professional development in safety management, advanced troubleshooting, and leadership.

I founded Rivet Consulting on the belief that good operational management starts with understanding the work, the equipment, and the people responsible for keeping a business running.

My leadership experience includes responsibility for maintenance programs, parts management, supplier negotiations, vendor coordination, budgeting, and operational oversight. I've negotiated parts contracts and new aircraft purchase agreements, developed preventive inspection and maintenance programs, set up parts tracking and inventory controls, and overseen vendor relationships and capital equipment projects.

Work in manufacturing and public transit broadened that perspective, bringing together maintenance, asset management, fleet scheduling, budgeting, project coordination, and operational improvement.

The common thread is straightforward: build systems people can use, set clear expectations, and give management the information it needs to make informed decisions.

This is experience built through doing the work, managing the responsibilities, and understanding the consequences of getting it wrong.

A hands-on approach

Every operation has different equipment, demands, constraints, and priorities. I don't assume that a system designed for one organization will automatically work for another.

I begin by understanding how your operation works today, where time and money are being lost, and what needs to improve. From there, I help develop and put in place workable solutions, set up tracking, and provide clear reporting so progress can be measured.

My background also includes airworthiness, quality assurance, safety management systems, and human factors training. Those disciplines reinforce one principle: efficiency should never come at the expense of safety, quality, or accountability.

Let's talk about your operation.
